In, Out, Up, Down, All Around we rolled throughout the downtown hitting critical mass and spreading smiles to all the passerby who joined us or looked on in disbelief at the sheer joy we all seemed to be having just by breaking out of the expected routine of the everyday...Sweet Jesus, Look at these people..they're...they're...roaming the streets PLAYING and asking people to join them! Whatever the inspiration or the intended goal of the project what was achieved and can be attested to by all who bore witness to this spectacle was an event that brought people together, got them into a temporary dialogue, got them thinking about the nature of the concepts of "Work" and "Play" while breaking them out of their everyday routines and realities, and showed the power of a group of people in motion in action on the streets of the city and the potential power this form of collective has in affecting and changing peoples perceptions, even if for just a small group of people passing through a brief moment in time.

~Kickball Jesus

We decided that we all wanted to be together rather than splitting into two groups.  We followed the play map, and played, but in our play we inadvertently created and used a sales pitch for recruiting people to join.  Goal-oriented work toward increased participation often overshadowed spontaneous play. We had a job to do—to follow a map and instructions, to walk and play.  We worked hard at playing.
